    Responsibilities

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Works in the Social Listening Center
    • Prepares for daily Standup meeting by identifying top news stories and trending social media topics.
    • Assists with the daily compilation and distribution of the company-wide News Brief email.
    • Learn and utilize various listening and analytics platforms to assist the team with insights, reporting, and publishing.
    • Assist with internal and external measurement and analysis of various Public Relations, Communications, Community Outreach, and Marketing-related activities and campaigns.
    • Keeps the team abreast of emerging social media trends and technology through e-mail awareness and case study presentations.
    • Use data mining techniques to find trends in news media coverage, social media conversation, and internal content as it relates to corporate campaigns and activities.
    • Analyzes data and compiles measurement reports associated with company events and campaigns.
    • Assist with updating and maintaining benchmarking efforts across multiple channels and landscapes, including competitors and other large brands.
    • Supports the Southwest Airlines Community with search engine optimization and membership communication.

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications:

    High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required. 

     

    Must be at least 18 years of age.

     

    Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

     

    EDUCATION:

    Progress towards degree with major/minor in Public Relations, Corporate/Mass Communications, Business, Marketing, or Communications related degree required.

     

    Minimum junior status or above (60+ credits).

     

    To be eligible, must be currently enrolled as a full-time student (minimum 12 credit hours).

     

    Maintained 3.0 or above cumulative GPA.

     

    Experience:

    Proficient usage of digital and social media technologies and platforms.

     

    Experience with tools and databases for listening, publishing, and measurement preferred  (i.e. – Cision, Radian 6, Omniture, Sprinklr, Google Analytics, etc.). 

     

    Experience, knowledge, or a keen interest in using data and measurement to tell a story or determine return on investment.

     

    Part-time jobs or previous internships preferred.

     

    Participation in trade/industry organizations, and/or school clubs preferred.

     

     

    Skills/Abilities/Knowledge/Work Style:

    Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

     

    Ability to create and/or deliver presentations in a group setting.

     

    Must possess clear, concise writing skills.

     

    Must possess basic analytical skills and have a knack for numbers.

     

    Ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines and work well under pressure.

     

    Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the utmost professionalism.

     

    Must have sufficient judgment to handle and resolve office administration tasks as needed.

     

    Ability to work well with others as part of a team

     

    Must be a self-starter

     

    Must be able to take direction from multiple Leaders and prioritize tasks

     

    Well-groomed appearance necessary.

     

    Must be able to communicate effectively verbally by telephone and face-to-face.

    PAY:

    $15.00 hourly + flight privileges.

     

    This Internship is located in Dallas, Texas at the Southwest Airlines Headquarters building.
