    Responsibilities

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    The Culture Services Department is made up of four Teams whose work falls under the four pillars of our Legendary Culture—Event Management, Awards & Recognition, Workplace Aesthetics, and Advocacy.  The Culture Services Intern will support all Teams and initiatives during his/her Internship.  Some examples of these projects and tasks are given below:

    • Assist with Culture Services events (Culture Event Management).  Duties include:  Assist with the planning and executing of large Employee events (meetings, rallies, parties, etc.); help with ordering, assembling, and shipping supplies; write blog posts and design visuals for internal use; work with outside vendors to order promotional items; work with hotels and venues to secure rooms, meeting spaces, and food.
    • Assist with Culture-related correspondence (Culture Awards & Recognition). Duties include:  Read and compose responses to Internal and External Customer compliments; communicate with groups of people via e-mail and phone; work with Employees on various presentations; ship out Employee recognition items/awards; and create various documents about the Company’s recognition efforts.
    • Assist with Southwest’s Universal Plan project (Culture Workplace Aesthetics).  Duties include:  Sort, catalog, and store wall art and memorabilia; select pieces for use in Employee common areas and conference rooms; research Employee information to return personal memorabilia.
    • Assist with Culture Engagement projects (Culture Advocacy).  Duties include:  Responding to Culture-related Employee inquiries via e-mail, phone, and social media; helping prepare presentations and information on all Culture efforts; assist with the planning and execution of appreciation events for our Employees in various cities; and help measure various statistics for the Culture Department.
    • Assist with other special projects relating to Culture as needed.

    Qualifications

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required. 

     

    Must be at least 18 years of age.

     

    Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

     

    EDUCATION:

     

    Progress towards degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Event Planning, Hospitality, Journalism, or related degree.

     

    Minimum sophomore level or above (30+ credits).

     

    To be eligible must be currently enrolled as a full-time student (minimum 12 credit hours).

     

    Maintained 3.0 or above cumulative GPA.

     

    SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/WORKING STYLE:

    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple tasks and complete assignments with tight deadlines.
    • Ability to work independently as well as a part of a Team.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint). Prezi experience is a plus.
    • Willingness to travel during the week for projects and events.
    • Ability to handle a high level of responsibility and maintain confidential information.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills required. Ability to proofread and correct errors with minimal supervision is a plus.
    • Excellent Customer Service skills required.
    • Previous writing experience (ex: school newsletter, business, creative) preferred.
    • Previous event planning experience preferred. Previous event follow up experience (ex: post-event surveys) is a plus.

    TIME COMMITMENT:

     

    Full-time minimum 40 hours per week.

     

    PAY:

     

    $15.00 hourly + flight benefits.

     

    This Internship is located in Dallas, Texas at the Southwest Airlines Headquarters building.
