Responsibilities

Department Overview

 

The Cargo Management Group is a logistics solution entity providing business to business expedited air cargo services. We support the Southwest Airlines business objectives with team collaboration including Marketing, Sales, Customer Care, Operations, Revenue Management, and Regulatory & Compliance on various projects.

 

Team Overview

 

Cargo Revenue Management uses various analytics to forecast aircraft capacity and negotiate freight pricing.  The Team objective is to grow revenue by ensuring that appropriate pricing is in place for all Cargo markets, in addition to providing analysis and adjustments to planned capacity to maintain the integrity of space utilization.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

 Understand Cargo pricing and capacity management; utilize available data sources to analyze pricing & operational performance in select markets; dissect flight capacity management and determine areas for improvement (flight capacity adjustments); process Cargo spot rate pricing; participate in pricing governance meetings on a bi-weekly basis; collaborate with Cargo Marketing and Cargo Sales Interns on executing a capstone project to be presented to Senior Leaders; participate in Sales Calls and Cargo Facility visits (travel may be required).

 

Monitor data and report findings to the Cargo Revenue Management and other members of Senior Management as necessary.

 

Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple data sources in order to identify unique pricing/yield opportunities (working with CRM Analysts).

 

Assess revenue initiatives by evaluating past and current yields.

 

Analyze outcome of pricing actions regarding their effect on the market, competitive environment as a result, and from a revenue perspective.

 

Identify areas related to pricing where execution deviates from prescribed strategy and implement solutions in a timely manner.

 

Collaborate with Cargo Operations Analyst to identify key areas for operational improvement.

 

Perform ad hoc analysis and reporting as requested by Leadership.

 

Travel as needed.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

 

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.

 

Must be at least 18 years of age.

 

Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

 

EDUCATION:

 

Progress towards degree in Supply Chain/Logistics, Economics, Statistics, Math, or Business related field.

 

Minimum junior level.

 

To be eligible must be currently enrolled as a full-time student (minimum 12 credit hours.)

 

Maintained 2.75 or above cumulative GPA.

PAY:

 

$15.00 per hour + flight privileges
