DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Southwest Airlines Revenue Management and Pricing Internships spans across 3 Teams: Market Pricing Strategy, Operations Research, and Yield Management. If selected, you will work full-time as a Team Member within one of the following Teams:
Market Pricing Strategy
The Market Pricing Strategy team is responsible for determining and filing all the price-points for all possible itineraries. Market Pricing Strategy is one of the sub-teams within Pricing which also include Global Pricing, Tactical, and Tariffs.
During the course of the internship you may do the following types of projects: Market Pricing Restructure, Monthly Market Review, Market Pricing Performance and Recommendation.

Operations Research Performance and Strategy
The Operations Research Performance and Strategy team is responsible for analyzing and managing data inputs of the demand forecasting tool (PROS).
During the course of the internship you will projects that allow you to improve demand forecast and optimization accuracy.

Market Strategy Analyst (Yield Management)
The Market Strategy Analyst (Yield Management) team forecasts the demand for passenger bookings and determines the number of seats available for sell at each price point.
During the course of the internship you conduct a Market Research and Market Review projects. You may be assigned additional ad hoc projects.
Tools: Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, PROS (Passenger Revenue Optimization System), Tableau, Alteryx
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
This position requires authorization to work in the United States as a permanent employee without sponsorship.
Progressing towards a degree in Aviation/Airline, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Math, Statistics, Supply Chain, Marketing or Business related field.
Minimum Junior level.
To be eligible must be currently enrolled as a full-time student (minimum 12 credit hours.).
Maintained 3.0 or above cumulative GPA.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Proficiency in Excel 's data manipulation functions (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, graphing, etc.) is strongly preferred.
Able to build and deliver PowerPoint presentations.
Able to effectively communicate in writing the results of their work.
Experience using forecasting software, forecasting models is preferred.
Classroom and/or industry experience using Access, programming languages VBA and/or SQL or other database management tools or data packages preferred.
Problem solving and analytical background required.
Basic understanding of root cause and/or trend analysis.
Ability to make decisions in an ambiguous environment.
Ability to stay organized, manage multiple and concurrent complex assignments and analyses in a fast pace environment with little supervision.
Demonstrates ability to interpret data, draw implications and modify approach.
Uses data to synthesize action plan and can clearly communicate interpretation of data to others.
Routinely goes beyond simple numerical checks in quality control.
Maintains high quality even in complex situations with tight deadlines

Pursues changes to operational or analytical status quo that serve to increase efficiency and/or generate revenue (e.g. developing automation, creating new reporting, etc.).

Involvement in campus organizations, clubs, or extracurricular activities preferred.
Basic knowledge of airline metrics is a plus.
