Responsibilities

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

SWA Citizenship is focused on corporate citizenship, sustainability, and CSR activities at Southwest and engages with both internal and external customers to reduce our environmental footprint, increase efficiency and effectiveness, and enhance our social impact. This internship affords an opportunity to participate in the development of Southwest’s renowned One Report (an integrated, holistic corporate social responsibility report), a repurposing program to extend the life-cycle of surplus items, and support reputation management activities. Individuals in this role will handle a variety of responsibilities including  communications, research, and some project management activities. The goal of this role is to support the strengthening of SWA’s enterprise-wide citizenship and sustainability strategy.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

 

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required. 

 

Must be at least 18 years of age.

 

Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

 

EDUCATION:

 

Progress toward undergraduate or graduate degree in Communications, Business, Political Science, International Studies, Public Administration, Sustainability or related degree.

 

Minimum junior level.

 

To be eligible must be currently enrolled as a full time student (minimum 12 credit hours).

 

Maintained 3.00 or above cumulative GPA.

  

SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/WORK STYLE:

  • Have the ability to create charts and tables in Excel is required.
  • Experience with sustainability, citizenship, or Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) reporting is preferred.
  • Involvement in organizations, social service, and leadership roles.
  • Problem solving ability and strong written/verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to stay organized and manage multiple and concurrent assignments.
  • Works well in a culture that is open, direct, respectful, courteous and compassionate.
  • Quick learner, self-motivated, and team oriented.

TIME COMMITMENT:

Fulltime - 40 hours per week, M-F during normal business hours

 

PAY:

$15/hr + flight privileges

 

This position is located in Dallas, Texas at the Southwest Airlines Headquarters building.
