Responsibilities

As a member of the Labor Relations Team the Labor Analytics Intern will be focused on supporting the Labor Relations Economics and Analytics team in the ongoing development and execution of the Company’s Negotiating strategy.

 

The Labor Analytics Intern will assist this department with a variety of responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Analyzes data, gathering insights and modeling various scenarios quantitatively.
  • Interacts with team members and Leaders in support of Southwest’s vision “To be the World’s Most Flown, Most Loved, and Most Profitable Airline”.
  • Provides research & impact analysis on important Labor topics including industry benchmark analysis and contract valuation.
  • The Intern may also be requested to perform other job duties as requested.

 

 

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.

Must be at least 18 years of age

Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

 

EDUCATION:

Candidates must be currently enrolled in a fulltime Bachelor’s Degree program with a Major/Minor in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Business or related degree program.

 

Minimum of Junior level by hours (60+) at the start of the internship.

 

Maintained 3.0 or above cumulative GPA.

 

SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/WORK STYLE:

Strong analytical and problem solving skills are required, including the ability to collect, manipulate and interpret data and then package and present it to Department Leaders.

 

Must be a self-starter, and seek out subject matter experts to obtain information and data in a professional manner.

 

Must ensure accuracy of work.

Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.

Must have the ability to quickly learn about new business areas to identify and resolve issues quickly.

Must have the ability to properly manage highly sensitive and confidential information.

Experience working with quantitative analysis and data modeling is preferred.

Experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) is required.

Experience in developing and delivering presentations is required.

Experience with quantitative tools (e.g., SQL, VBA, SAS).

Experience working and problem solving with cross-functional teams is preferred.

Previous experience with an internship in a related position within the last 12 months is preferred.

 

Location and Pay:

 

Pay of $15.00 per hour + flight privileges

 

This position is located in Dallas, Texas at the Southwest Airlines Headquarters.
